Enjoy the ride.

Currently, I live in a small 'crossroad' town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I'm raising a wonderful son, cultivating a promissing career in Real Estate and enjoying every day! I'm involved in many community activities, charitable organizations and do LOTS of Yoga! Life is a great ride. Things change, I adapt and follow the 'road' with love and humility. • Abacus

I am bursting with Maternal pride right now :-). Yesterday, I was cleaning the garage while Allex played quietly in his bedroom. After awhile, he came out and told me, "Guess what Mom, 10 tens makes 100!" Smiling, I told him he was right and asked how he knew. He said he counted it out on his calculator toy (which is what we call his Abacus)!

I bought the Abacus for him about 1 year ago. He really hasn't payed any attention to it until now. I'm so glad I got it for him!!! My Grandmother kept one around when I was a kid. She had hers from one of her travels to Asia. It was very special to me and when I saw this one made by Melissa and Doug (children quality toy company) in bright colors with large beads, I couldn't help buying it. I bought it for nostalgia and hoped that it would help Allex grasp Mathematical concepts. And it did! At four and one half years old, he's learning multiplication! Tomorrow we'll talk about what 2 tens, 3 tens (and so on) make.
