I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42

A Pornstar and A War

I just read Dream Factory, written by one of my most favorite writers, on Saturday, and while I quite enjoyed the story, I remember most fondly the story's interesting point of view. I will now write about...

A Pornstar

The downward spiral of a prolific male porn star into, drugs, guns and other not so pretty things, has the potential to be an interesting movie. Val Kilmer did the acting thing well, but I wouldn't recommend the movie to my parents. The story unfolds from the point of view of a series of people involved in a rather stupid robbery that ends up with many people very dead. You know that everyone is lying because none of the versions we see match. The importance of discovering the truth in this matter is not big. It was a couple of bad people doing bad things to each other. On the other hand, there was...

A War

I'm reading an amazing book by Christian G. Appy entitled Patriots: The Vietnam War Remembered From All Sides. Appy interviews people involved in all aspects of the war. Each account has introduce a new piece of the historical puzzle, and caused me to pause and rethink my reactions to the previous accounts. I'll write more about it when I've read more. I found out about this book listening to KPFK.

I get drawn in when a story is told well, and tend to spend a lot of time thinking about how to tell stories well. After talking with various people about my previous journal entry, I've come to a conclusion. If you do something harmless and silly, then you are cute or amusing. If there is a practical reason for you to do the exact same thing, for some reason people think you are insane. Oh the trials of being a creative yet engineer minded individual, often referred to as a Geek

Good night.
