2003-08-22 9:17 AM Ramblings Yesterday I witnessed one of my coworkers having a seizure. It was horrifying. She's my cube neighbor, and I was hearing some strange noises (which isn't really unusual as she's a little...different). Next thing you know I realized what was going on, at which point she was already unconscious. I had to find help and told her other cube neighbor to dial 911. Now, the man I told to call 911 didn't do it right away, but waited until I came back to say, "what number should I call?" Hmmm...that's an attorney for you.
Other than that the highlight of my night was shopping at Target and bringing home my new bagless vacuum cleaner. I'm very excited that I was able to assemble it on my own, though by the time I was done I was ready to stab someone with the stupid screwdriver. I don't know why things have to be so difficult to put together. It's a vacuum cleaner, not a space shuttle. I called Jeff last night. I'm blaming my boredom, the movie "Chocolat", and Johnny Depp's overall hotness for pushing me to make the call. He was nice, as usual, and thought that I had been mad at him and that I wouldn't return his calls for three or four years. He invited me over to see his new place, but I (praise the Lord!) declined. He said he'd call me tonight, but I'm thinking that I'll probably be sleeping already, since he can't seem to call me before midnight. I heard something very disturbing on the radio this morning. A mother of a 14-year-old girl (in Wisconsin) walked in on her daughter and another 14-year-old boy in her bed, getting ready to have sex (but not yet in the act). The mother called 911 and had the boy arrested, he was taken to jail and is being charged with sexual assault. The real disturbing part is that the sex, had it happened, would have been consentual for both parties. Since both of the teenagers are under the age of consent, then it is an illegal act. So why, I ask you, is it the MALE that is being prosecuted? What about the girl? Perhaps it was she who initiated it? What kind of parents would call 911? Perhaps if you were raising your daughter with the right values then she would not be "almost" having sex at age 14! Now that 14-year-old boy will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. I can't understand these crazy parents anymore, let alone our justice system.
