2004-01-05 3:18 PM Monday Monday Another too-short weekend, another Monday.
Friday night I worked the day job followed by an extremely intense eight hours at the restaurant. Haven’t worked a sixteen-hour day in a while and damn did it kick my ass. I’ve been planning on quitting for awhile but I’ve only recently climbed out of the huge hole I’ve been it and sort of like having the extra cash. Seeing my end of year check stubs from both jobs was sort of impressive. 2003 was my most lucrative year to date. So after the exhausting hell that was Friday night I felt like complete crap all day on Saturday. I slept until ten in the morning, walked the dogs, stopped at the store, then went back to bed at noon. At three in the afternoon I finally dragged my sorry butt out of bed and got ready to go back to the restaurant. Saturday night it was nine long, hellish hours that made me wish for an early death, but the wad of cash in my pocket on the drive home almost made it worthwhile. I was so exhausted that I passed out about twenty minutes after I made it to my couch. Sunday morning was a bit more hectic than I would’ve liked. I was awake early to take care of some things around the house before Sam’s family was supposed to come over and pick some of Sam’s furniture and chest freezer. By eleven I was wondering where the hell they were, then called them to find that they would probably stop over later that day. By that time I was completely pissed that I never had a phone call to let me know what was up, and told his mother (feel kind of bad at how rude I was) that I had things to do and since I rarely have days off that I didn’t intend to stay home all day for their convenience. A few minutes later Frank stopped over to pick up his deer head from the freezer. We talked for about an hour before finally starting to dig through the freezer to see what was in there. It wasn’t till we got to the big game at the bottom did we discover the three inches of frozen blood at the bottom of the freezer that was making the whole thing stink to high heaven. After lighting every scented candle in the house and lighting fresh cigarettes, we reopened the freezer and got to work. Something definitely thawed in that thing, and I can’t imagine how. I know that the electricity went off for awhile during the blackout but there’s no WAY it was off long enough for those things to thaw. I can’t figure it out. Anyway we examined the pelts and decided that it would be safer to hold off on moving them until we have a taxidermist who can take them, then we’ll just take them straight there. There’s also another deer head in there that I’m assuming is Josh’s, so I have to figure out what he wants to do with it. I think it’s hilarious that I’m dealing with animal carcasses and deer heads these days. When I met Sam I had no idea he was a hunter/fisherman/outdoorsman type. He just looked like a whole lot of trouble, the kind of guy that you know is going to break your heart and yet you can’t seem to resist falling for him immediately. It wasn’t until I went to his house one day and saw the three hundred pound wild boar hanging from his basketball hoop that I realized what I was dealing with (somehow I had managed to go to his house repeatedly without noticing the deer heads and animal hides hanging from the walls…I was in love, what can I say?). After Frank left I headed to Gus’s with Jessica for a very late $2 breakfast before heading to Home Depot. I FINALLY have blinds hanging in my kitchen, bedroom, and mudroom. I’m ecstatic. I also bought a carpet scrubber that will hopefully eliminate the doggy/smoky smell of my carpet. Every single time I go to that store I always spend at least $300, and I managed quite nicely yesterday. Of course, I was planning on spending the evening vacuuming so that I could start cleaning the carpet, when what should I discover? Zeus chewed the cord to my vacuum cleaner, so now I have to get it fixed before I can get moving. At this rate I’ll be lucky if I can get the wallpaper down and paint before 2005. Tonight I’m playing darts for the first time in a month. I’m really not looking forward to it, but hopefully we’ll have a little fun. We’ll see… Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
