Weak-End

So I'm still stuck in this funk or whatever it is that has resulted not only in me not having anything to say about anything at all, but has me not really caring about anything in particular. If that makes sense.

Worked at the rest. on Friday night for the first time in two weeks. After a surreal three and a half months of not minding it so much I'm back to minding it and yet, of course, not really caring at the same time. Don't have much to say, it was an uneventful shift.

Saturday had me at the mall searching for a gift for Jessica's daughter Mya's first birthday party. I ended up spending way too much at Baby Gap for an outfit in order to both get it over with and escape the poorly-behaved children that seemed to have taken control of every toy and children's clothing store in the county. The party was pretty much as expected, and I headed out with some friends later that night for darts and drinks and party-pooped it home at 11:30.

Yesterday, despite the beatiful weather, found me on the couch for the majority of the day. I've tossed aside Wolfe for the present and was distracted by reading the first half of Donoghue's Slammerkin whilst cuddling with beagles. Don't know why the book caught my eye, though it may have something to do with whole daughter getting called a whore and kicked out of the house by her parents thing. Strangely familiar, I suppose.

And today dawns with the ludicrousness that is my workplace's annual "Art Show." Had I known that taking a picture of my dog on my kitchen counter-top with a Poloroid and calling it "Still Life with Dog" was considered "Art" I might have participated. Although, that is nothing compared to the trivet that is covered with dusty pieces of bathroom tile. Don't know what that one's called...probably something original like the piece I saw called "All You Need is Love." I'm so glad that this place has managed to escape the cliche! I usually don't participate in these sort of work-related extravaganzas (imagine that!) but I'm now tempted to grab my orange finger paint and make one of those hand-print turkeys that are so popular nowadays. And maybe I'll paint some Cheerios and glue them onto construction paper to make a rainbow. Now that would be nice.

(Yeah, I'll admit it, I am a Bitch.)

And now, I'm off to smoke a cigarette. I made it two months before caving. Apparently I do not handle stress well.
