Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

As I read, I make note of words I don't know. Some words I have an idea and I look these up too. So, my list today is the latest batch of new words:

+ Syllogism: Noun. 1. An argument or form of reasoning in which two statements or premises are made and a logical conclusion is drawn from them; 2. Reasoning from the general to the particular; deductive logic; and 3. An instance of subtle, tricky, or specious reasoning.

+ Ormolu: Noun. 1. An imitation gold made of an alloy of copper and tin, used in making ornaments, moldings, cheap jewelry, etc.; 2. Imitation gold leaf.

+ Chiaroscuro: Noun. 1. Light and shade in a painting, drawing, etc. treated so as to produce the illusion of depth, a dramatic effect, etc.; 2. A style of painting, drawing, etc. emphasizing this; 3. A painting, drawing, etc. in which chiaroscuro is used.

This last word is from the Daily Book of Art I am reading. I had never heard of this form of art.

I can see I need to write down the sentence in which I find these words because the first two I have no recollection of the context. I know if I could remember it would possibly plant them more firmly in my memory banks.

My dictionary is the "Webster's New World College Dictionary - Fourth Edition." I am sure there are newer dictionaries out there now but this one seems to be working fine for the words I come across.

Again, I think I slept better. I was ready to get up at 8:30 a.m. I think not taking the clonazapam at night is helping. I don't remember any dreams and I did not wake up feeling anxious.

Because I reflected on my plan for today, even though I didn't write it down, I thought about it.

So, my day began with taking my morning medications.

I then went to meditate. I had monkey mind all over the place. My shoulders kept creeping up to my ears. I had to relax my shoulders and breathe. I did not count my breaths this morning. Before I knew it, my time of solitude was completed.

This was followed by my neck stretches, 50 crunches and 10 up-lifts. The up-lifts are hard and I have no strength in my lower abdomen. I have to rock my butt up in the air. I can remember when I could lift up with my feet like someone was pulling an invisible string attached to my feet and was pulling me up.

To finish up my physical activity for today, I stretched my spine along the hard foam tootsie roll. I did two sets of breathing to 20 and back down to one. When I went to rise from the roll I felt two pops along my spine. This is good because I have not felt any movement in my spinal column in some time. Of course, I haven't been exercising either.

After that Michael made me a fried egg sandwich on marbled rye bread. It was very yummy. He also prepared me a cup of tea which I loved.

Okay, I must get onto my next project: get myself into the shower. I swept up the floor first. I began with brushing my teeth and washing my face. Next the shower, I wash my hair. My hair needed to be washed because I haven't cleaned it since before the house guest left. I even pushed back my cuticles of my hands and toes. My toes really needed the care since I have not been painting my toe nails. If my hands didn't tremor so much, I think I would keep my toes painted. Ah, if I could only afford to see the gal I had doing my pedicures again. It is much more fun to be pampered by someone else.

I finished up in the bathroom for myself and then swished and swiped. Now all that is left is to sweep the floor of the litter that skittles all over the floor from Bailey. If I really get industrious, I shall wash the floor, but that is, if I really get industrious.

I asked for Michael's assistance in making the bed which he did. It is easier when we both do it. He said he is happy how we made the bed this time. This is where we tucked in the sheet at the bottom of the bed. What surprised me were the sheets stayed tucked in. It is my feeling that we both sleep better when the bed clothes are nice and neat.

During both of our showers, the smoke detector kept going off. I don't understand this. I can't imagine steam would set it off but I guess it did. We need to get the detector back in its base instead of hanging down from the ceiling.

Everything is checked off from my minimum morning do's. Which is pretty good and if I do nothing else today, I have accomplished this much.

The only extra thing I need to do is make some calls to find a ride for Monday's meeting. I hope to find someone from town who is going and lives near me.

It seems like there is something else but I cannot think of it. This is okay.

I do remember when I woke up this morning that I saw condensation on the lower portion of our bedroom window. It must have been cold this morning. I remember seeing temperatures of high 40s when I watched the weather report last night.

We had a discussion last night about turning on the pilot light. I don't know that it is quite time yet. The longer we can hold off will keep our gas bill at its present state. It seems like last year we had the pilot light on sometime in October and our bill went up to almost $20 a month.

Bailey is meowing as he walks through the dining room. He has had his lunch at noon. I feel he is ready for one or both of us to go into the living room and assume our positions so he can settle in. When I was sitting in my chair this morning watching the telly, he curled up in my lap and went to sleep until I had to get up.

And so, here is my Saturday in a nutshell. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
