Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

Part of the Thanksgiving Day treasures is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. I missed a portion of the beginning; however, I got to see Neil Diamond and Scotty McCreary. This was the 85th year for the parade. It was fun to see the floats, bands, and the balloons. At 10 o'clock Pacific time, NBC did a look back at those 85 years with the various hosts and celebrities that was part of the performance. It was a great way to begin our T-day!

I sent out texts of well wishes to my family. A bright note, I received one back from my son in Hawaii. Later, the Amazing Mz. M called to wish us well.

Our dinner came out wonderfully. Michael baked the turkey differently this year. He began with the turkey breast down; then about 15 minutes before it was done, he turned it over so it could brown. We even had Marie Callendar biscuits thanks to Sam. Michael made up the dough and I pulled off pieces while Michael shaped them and put them on our new cookie sheet. Ah, the second time we have used the sheet. I am glad I purchased one and it was only a dollar! Michael even carved the turkey differently after having seen a spot on NBC Nightly News the night before.

Luckily he was able to find the episode on the NBC web site and watched the video. So, he carved the turkey the new way and WOW! We had more turkey meat by carving the usual way, the breast meat was very juicy and I feel we have found the clean up of the carcass yielded more meat. Hmmm, I see turkey burritos and sandwiches in our future.

Dinner was great! We filled our plates and went in and watched the evening news. Everything tasted good.

As for this year's blessings they are as follows:

1. My spirituality
2. Michael and Bailey
3. My Al-Anon program and friends
4. My family
5. My friends
6. My on-line friends
7. I live in paradise
8. It didn't rain like it was predicted
9. Watching the 85th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade
10. The food on our table
11. The food banks and the people who volunteer at them for bringing together the food for us.
12. The county library and the movies and books we get to check out
13. All the birds who visit our patio and their bird song
14. Music
15. My dishwasher
16. Sunshine
17. It hasn't been cold enough to turn on the pilot light to the wall heater
18. My food bank friends
19. The roof over our head
20. My flowering plants and I even grew tomatoes this year and we got to eat them!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
