Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

Happy Cinco de Mayo and happy Kentucky Derby Day! Arriba!

After having lived with my man for 19 years, not to have him around for his two cents is very strange.

The last two days I have woken up and wondered what to do with myself. I sort of have a plan but I haven't really followed it. The main thing is to take care of my medications and to eat healthfully. Other than that, it is what comes to mind.

I've been doing some household chores; I walked up town to the post office and the pharmacy. I am glad about this because I got in a 35 minute walk and got some sunshine. I had a nice long chat with a friend of mine.

Then there were the pre-activities of the Kentucky Derby. This was the 138th run for the roses. It was won by I'll Have Another (Cookie). I love the interviews with the ladies and the discussion about their hats. I saw some pretty outrageous hats. Of course, I had my floppy hat on. Instead of Coke, I had a bottle of lime Perrier water. I know it's not a mint julep but it is in a green bottle and tastes just as good.

It is nice and sunny today. I have the slider and windows open. The fresh air is wonderful.

It is just amazing how quiet the apartment feels with Michael away.

I don't know how I will feel tonight since I am staying in.

I did get to talk with Michael today. He is still in pain so the hospital staff is taking care of that. I feel relief with him being in the hospital because he is getting the assistance he needs with medical issues. He told me he might be able to come home tomorrow but it is a wait and see game.

When I walked up town, I was complemented, by a stopped driver, on my bib overalls. I thanked him and told him I had two pairs. He replied he found them very comfortable and I agreed. Then in the pharmacy I run into four of my food bank buddies. Wow.

So, the day is moving forward and so am I.
