Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he'd stuck it out.

Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,

And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are -
It may be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

I'm not quitting but I am resting today.

Since I decided (Michael helped with that decision) to stay home last night, Michael prepared us dinner.

Poor dear, he had to watch me fall asleep while I was eating. I guess the day's outing was a bit much for me.

By 10:30 p.m. He sent me off to bed. I slept through till 10:50 a.m. Ten minutes before we were to be at the Saturday's food bank. I woke up Michael and he said not to worry about it since we had plenty of food in the fridge and the pantry.

We did decide to get up but both of us are slow moving today. I've done nothing of the usual today except to read my daily inspirational books.

I did do some work on my part of being the Al-Anon literary chair. I made phone calls and made up a list of my volunteers. I have one who will be in town during the convention and he is coming from San Diego.

This part done, I have been reading and responding to e-mail and now it is 3:50 p.m.

I think I am ready to go read for awhile.
