Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. - Aristotle

Have you ever stopped to acknowledge exactly how much we repeat our actions during any given day?

Michael and I are beginning to repeat our mornings by getting up and going for our walk. Soon, I feel, it will become a habit.

I need to take my thyroid medication and preferably the same time every day. This is followed an hour and a half later by my morning pills and my nasal cleanse.

Bailey, of course, demands to be fed and given food and fresh water. And gosh forbid, if we didn't get up at the right time, he pesters to the point we become irritable. Yes, I guess some attention, even negative is good attention. He gets what he wants - his breakfast. But he is such a dear.

Then there is the first cuppa coffee or tea. Where would we be if we didn't have our nectars of the Gods and Goddesses?

The next big decision, is who is going to take a shower first? There was a time this wasn't an issue but then, we had a shower large enough for the both of us. In our older age, the showers are just not big enough.

There is the time spent at the computer; checking e-mail, writing entries, responding to e-mails, and looking for songs to download. The computer puts its little hands to its monitor and wails at me: "Do I know how old she is and how do I expect her to multitask when I don't even do it any longer." Well, not if I can help it.

Thus the day moves along with feeding ourselves, taking medications, listening to our downloaded music and then, and then . . .

The witching hour comes, the 5:30 p.m. national news, NBC Evening News with Brian Williams. Brian, I find, wears a lot of blue suits when he is in the studio. He has one tie which I adore and it is purple. However, I noticed once when he was out in the field; he had a black suit on with an accompanying tie. I still like that purple tie.

And now we come to nighttime. We have dinner, watch some television shows or DVDS and then call it a day. It seems to be a very long day if you ask me. The joy of it all is that most of it shall be repeated tomorrow. Some things may be different but I am working my way to good habits.
