Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

It's hard to believe that Nelson Mandela has died. I knew it was coming within the last year for as many times I had seen articles about him having to be placed in the hospital.

I was too young to understand all he did for his country and what he had to endure. What pulled me to him is his compassion for those who treated him badly and did not and would not have an open mind in what his path was.

Personally, what I will remember of him is his great smile and warm heart. We have lost a good man.

I had a boss and for the seven years I worked for him, he always asked on December 7th, did I know what day it was. It only took one time and I remembered it there after that today, December 7, was Pearl Harbor day.

I was not born yet but in the years that I studied history and watched the news articles and the movies made about this time period, what a game changer. But, I think about those who died and those who came to do battle against Japan. I feel it horrible on both sides to have had to feel they had to do such damage to one another. I salute our military for what they gave for us to have freedom.

While others were dealing with snow, ice and sleet, we had dropping temperatures. Of the plants I left outside fared well in the cold. In walking around my neighborhood, I did see some plants covered with sheets. Last night we had rain. When I went out walking, everything was wet. I did not see any icicles. Although it was fairly cool and on my last leg towards home, I finally had to take off one layer. It was fairly windy as well and I had to fight to keep my hat on.

Oh, and while on my walk, I met up with a neighbor who found out that honey bees had taken up nest building in his bird house. The bees left home and left him will a birdhouse full of honey and honey comb. Granted I wouldn't want them homing in my birdhouse but fresh honey does sound wonderful.

On the home front, I'm having some anxiety as we have to take our TV in for a check up. It has been doing some weird stuff intermittently and we want to get it checked out before the warranty is up.

I don't know how long this check up is going to take. I wonder how I will handle the evenings without the background noise of the programs. I know I will get more reading done and probably do more housework than I have been doing. However, I wonder if the radio will be a good step in for the TV. Oh well, I shall survive.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Saturday.

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy.Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."

-- Jose N. Harris, MI VIDA

"I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again." - William Penn, English entrepreneur and philosopher
