2005-04-13 2:37 PM Catawampus to the World Read/Post Comments (0) |
In the State of Washington vs. Nancy Lebovic, the next pretrial conference is tomorrow. I was in touch with the prosecutor today and he will let me know how things went after the conference tomorrow. Whatever I'm allowed to disclose publicly, I will post on this thread.
And now for today's random walk: When I first moved to Southern California, a morning traffic reporter on KNX was known for saying that a vehicle, after a big accident, was "catawampus to the world." I wasn't sure if he meant the vehicle was "lying on its side" or "four tires up in the air," etc. But I looked it up today, and catawampus could mean both, and more. The reason I bring this up is that I have been feeling a bit "catawampus to the world" of late. I'm still waking up between 4:00am and 5:00am several days per week, and my first thoughts are almost reflexively about Peter and the conditions under which he was killed...which prevents me from going back to sleep. No one should worry about me, though...I recently saw a grief counselor who diagnosed me as having acute-grief something-or-other but pronounced me fit as a fiddle and assured me that what I'm going through is normal. (Hey, I knew that already.) He sort of offered sleeping pills but I declined for a variety of reasons. Basically, it was a very expensive pat on the head...my visit with him will likely be the subject of a future entry on this blog. And besides, as Pollyanna might have pointed out, had she been a person instead of a character in a book, I should be grateful and happy (and I am) that at least I have a roof to sleep under and a bed to sleep in, which is more than so many people in the world.
