I frequently think about the original purpose of this blog--to provide periodic updates about the trial of Nancy, who murdered my father, Peter. In the aftermath of Peter's death, this blog was also intended to be a forum for other things Peter-related.

I have obviously strayed far afield from the original purpose, and I have been silent on those matters for some time, mostly because there was nothing new to say.

However, yesterday I got three things in the mail that were all Peter-related. Two of them were in connection with legal matters concerning Peter's estate, and while I have plenty to say in that regard, it would be inappropriate for me to say any of it publicly at this time.

So I will focus only on the third piece of mail, which was bittersweet. It was a very touching letter from the fellow at the Pierce College Tutoring Center who helps administer the "Peter Hartman Math Book Fund," something we started right after the murder, to provide math books for students who are having a tough time buying the books on their own.

Attached to the letter were some very nice "thank you" notes from students who received math books. It was a compelling reminder of Peter's legacy--his infectious love of math, learning, and teaching--that he left at the tutoring center.

After reading the letter and the notes, Holly and I instantly knew we would give more money to the fund. Some readers of this blog may have received the same letter, but just case not, here it is.
