I just read a great book, Infidel, by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. When Theo van Gogh was killed, the radical Islamic murderer left a note stabbed on to van Gogh's body...the note was a warning to Ms. Hirsi Ali.
Born in Somalia in 1969, Ms. Hirsi Ali later became a member of the Dutch Parliament and now is with the American Enterprise Institute. She is a relentless critic of Islam and she has a very important story. I had heard some of Ms. Hirsi Ali's story before, and I had certainly heard of the plight of many Muslim women, but she tells it in a compelling, unforgettable way. Ms. Hirsi Ali is not only an extraordinarily talented writer, but she is also is incredibly courageous; she continues to speak out despite constant death threats from militant Islam. As far as I know, she still lives under constant guard, but think about this: would you keep speaking out on any subject if you were facing real and credible death threats over it? Given the state of western-Islamic relations right now, I would say that "Infidel" is a "must-read." Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
