In time for (last year's) 50th anniversary of the publication of John F. Kennedy's "Profiles in Courage," other Kennedys are giving us profiles in hypocrisy. And it's not just the Kennedys...it's other wealthy Cape Cod residents who have their knickers in a knot over a proposal for an offshore wind farm. The battle over Cape Wind has actually been going on for years and is the subject of a new book by the same name.

In some book of idioms, perhaps there is a profile of Robert Kennedy Jr. under the heading of "delicious irony." I have actually seen RFK Jr. speak, and he sounds like an ardent environmentalist; a true believer who is dedicated to the cause. But guess what? Not in his own back yard...he has adamantly opposed the Cape Wind project. He has tried several weak justifications for his oppsition but imho, the bottom line is that he is simply worried about his view. As I understand it, the closest any of the turbines would be to shore would be five miles...hardly a view-blocker.

Teddy Kennedy has been an outspoken critic as well.
Greenpeace has been in on the act, handling out mock fliers at a Kennedy book signing in New York entitled "How I Killed America's First Offshore Wind Farm."

This
Greenpeace ad is worth 1,000 words...it's Kennedy playing whack-a-mole with the wind turbines.
