My office overlooks one of the busiest interesections in Los Angeles, Wilshire and Westwood Blvd. The intersection is entirely shut down right now by people in the middle of it chanting and waving rainbow flags, protesting today's court decision on gay marriage. The police are out in force--cars, mortorcycles and helicopters--but it doesn't look like it's about to get violent.

I am saddened again by people whose cause I am entirely sympathetic to, but who I think are using the absolute wrong approach to gain support for their cause. Delaying people who just had a long day at work, and want to get home to see their families, or see their kids in a sporting event, or pick up their child from daycare, just makes people angry. It doesn't make them feel good about supporting the cause, or make them want to support the cause.

To the people shouting in the intersection--it may make you feel better short term because you are so angry, but does nothing constructive towards your real goal.
