In February 2007, I wrote on this thread about meeting Ray Bradbury in the library next to our office. He gave talk to the 15 or 20 of us who showed up...he spoke for awhile and signed books. As probably all of you know, Bradbury died a couple days ago...and I thought I would add an RIP here. Bradbury was a brilliant guy and his enthusiasm for life was vast and infectious. From my entry on this thread the day after I met him at the library:

I bought a copy of "Fahrenheit 451" and Bradbury signed it. He wrote "JAY!!" in the inscription...Bradbury is prolific...wrote Illustrated Man, Dandelion Wine, Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes...and on and on.
From his wheelchair, Bradbury gave a great talk...all sorts of inspiring stuff about being a young writer making barely any money and various other life-shaping experiences. At one point, he said, "Gorge yourself on books! Gorge yourself on movies! Gorge yourself on life!!"
