Here I go, feet first, into the blog-o-sphere. (Brief explanation to those readers – hi, mom – who are just entering this world for the first time. A blog is a web-based journal. The blog-o-sphere is the on-line world of blogs.)

First the apologies: I’m rotten at keeping up with all the friends and family I’ve been blessed with. I’m terrible at it, and I apologize. This is my way of making it up to you. I promise to make posts on a regular basis, and I hope to hear your comments on a regular basis, too. (If this thing works like it should, there ought to be a comment button for you to click on and post your thoughts, too.) I point this out in my intro to the left, but I think it’s worth repeating. I’m leaving this blog open to the public. Anyone can read it and the comments without a special password, secret handshake or launch codes. So please word your comments accordingly, leaving out any personal information about you or me you or I wouldn’t want the world to have.

Second the rules: This is my way of connecting with all of you I know and perhaps some passersby I don’t. I’ll write about the city, which many of my friends and family in the middle states have never seen. I’ll write about things happening in my life and work and anything else that catches my fancy. And I hope you, through your comments, will do the same. I do, however, reserve the right to delete and/or edit any comments I find offensive or inappropriate. Be nice or be gone.
