ahream Dispatches from the City of Angels I'm a mystery writer living in and writing about Los Angeles. You can catch my short story, "Running Venice," in the new anthology LAndmarked for Murder. Look for it in bookstores and on Amazon.com now. In the meantime, feel free to poke around. Over at my website you can find even more blog entries than I could fit here, as well as a few other ramblings. Enjoy and come back often. |

In case you were wondering, it is very difficult to get a hummingbird out of your house. They are irrational and prone to hysterics. L.A. Finds: The Nickel Diner on Main between 5th and 6th is a made-to-look-old, throwback of a place that melds into the old downtown and is, at the same time, part of the renaissance. They serve their burgers medium, their soda in bottles and offer all they can to locals in need. Flickr Updates: The second Thursday of every month is the Downtown Art Walk. The galleries stay open late, the restaurants are packed, bands perform on the streets. God, I love L.A. 2006-01-11 10:35 AM I am yogi, hear me whimper I have printed out the coupon. I am looking at it. I am preparing myself.
Yoga. Well, sort of. Yoga for Athletes. It’s my compromise. I have a coupon for a free class. “No granola,” it promises. Carbs aren’t what worry me. I’m just not a downward-dog sort of gal. I like sporting activities where someone could potentially be screaming at me. “Faster, Ream! Move it!” Not that anyone ever has, but the possibility still exists. And that’s comforting. (You find your comfort your way, I’ll find my comfort my way.) But the one true fact of serious running is this: At some point, you won’t be able to tie your own shoes. Muscles tighten, get specialized, flexibility is non-existent. Next thing you know, a dropped pencil will stay on the floor until its molecular structure starts to breakdown and it again becomes one with the particles of the universe. Or until your husband comes home and picks it up for you, whichever comes first. And it’s a shame for a writer to loose so many pencils that way. So here I go. Yoga for Athletes reservations. Sometime next week. Wish me luck. Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
