Dispatches from the City of Angels

I'm a writer and humorist living in and writing about Los Angeles. You can catch my novel LOSING CLEMENTINE out March 6 from William Morrow. In the meantime, feel free to poke around. Over at my website you can find even more blog entries than I could fit here, as well as a few other ramblings. Enjoy and come back often.

I've been reviewed!

Okay, I was soooo going to be one of those aloof writers who never, ever, ever read reviews. Ever. Who doesn't have a whole cast of critics already living in their head? Like we need to invite guests?

And I still think that's a super philosophy. And I'm going to start living it. Tomorrow.

Today, I received an e-mail with the text from my very first review. I knew what it was. I had a choice. I could've deleted. But like a compulsive rat in a Skinner box, I pushed the button hoping for a food pellet and not an electric shock. (Really, one good jolt and your fur is just never the same.)

Result? Food pellet!

Jackie Houchin on ValleyNews.com says of the new anthology, LANDMARKED FOR MURDER and my contribution, "Running Venice," in particular:

"LANDMARKED FOR MURDER is a wonderful collection of ten short stories...each containing murder, malice or mayhem at some very well-known Los Angeles landmarks."

"'Running Venice' is a non-stop, heart-pounding, terror-inspiring thriller."

"LANDMARKED FOR MURDER is the best of the Sisters in Crime/LA anthologies so far...You will have a hard time putting this one down!"

I'm not going to lie. I did a little dance. I did a little dance to the beat of "Let Me See You Shake Your Tail Feathers." I did it in my pajamas...okay, and my sunglasses. What? Like you've never done it?
