Dispatches from the City of Angels

I'm a mystery writer living in and writing about Los Angeles. You can catch my short story, "Running Venice," in the new anthology LAndmarked for Murder. Look for it in bookstores and on Amazon.com now. In the meantime, feel free to poke around. Over at my website you can find even more blog entries than I could fit here, as well as a few other ramblings. Enjoy and come back often.

Most Recent Twitters:
Reading Tony Broadbent's book, The Smoke. It's too good. I'm losing sleep. Nocturnal pattern shot to hell. Productivity declining.

L.A. Finds:
The Denver omelet at Pat's in Topanga is sublime in its simplicity. Exactly what you need and nothing else, much like the restaurant itself snuggled smack in the middle of an old hippie community where the peace signs and tie-dye still reign.

Flickr Updates:
The second Thursday of every month is the Downtown Art Walk. The galleries stay open late, the restaurants are packed, bands perform on the streets. God, I love L.A.

What I'm Reading:

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running

I totally stole this blog post

I was going to write about my husband falling on his butt last night. Then I was going to write about my favorite new toy: The Heart Rate Monitor. Then I was going to write about this blog I’ve been reading written by a male porn star. (Yes, don’t worry. I’ll get to that.) But then I found this:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm

It’s an online version of the Myers-Briggs personality test. And of course, by found, I mean read about it on fellow writer Harley Jane Kozak’s blog:

http://thelipstickchronicles.typepad.com/

Can. Not. Resist. Quizzes. Unable. To. Control. Self.

If you’ve ever taken a college-level psych course, you’ve probably already had to do the Myers-Briggs. Not that this stopped me from taking it again. Who doesn’t want to know what their Jungian psychology type is? Extroverted feeling judger? Introverted sensing feeler?

Personally I’m an extroverted intuitive feeling judger or ENFJ, which I think is supposed to explain my passion for color-coded charts.

This particular test will even link you to a page describing what your results mean, what other famous people have your same type and suggest a career path, should you be feeling a little directionless. Although, I admit the likelihood of me chucking this whole writing gig to go teach high school anything is pretty slim. I once taught creative writing at a school for delinquents, except nobody’s suppose to use that word anymore. Was. Not. Pretty.

So go forth at test thee self! Then post your results in the comments section – ‘cause, you know, I’m nosy.
