Dispatches from the City of Angels

I'm a writer and humorist living in and writing about Los Angeles. You can catch my novel LOSING CLEMENTINE out March 6 from William Morrow. In the meantime, feel free to poke around. Over at my website you can find even more blog entries than I could fit here, as well as a few other ramblings. Enjoy and come back often.

Size Queen

Occasionally - okay, more often than I care to admit - I let my computer lure me into pastimes not at all suited to finishing whatever piece of writing I should be finishing. My computer is very good at luring. She's quite the naughty minx.

Recently, her arsenal of time-wasters has been expanded to include Google Reader, a handy device designed to, ironically, save you time. It condenses all the blogs you read into one page, updating your page as the blogs update. Everything all together. It's brilliant.

It also makes suggestions. Although, I often think my reader has lost its digital mind. "That? Why would I want to read that?" Most of the time, I ignore the hints. Sometimes I don't. The minx. Sometimes, if for just one line, it's worth it.

A random blogger was answering the question "What turns you on?"

Her answer:

"As a dear friend says, it's all about the mindfuck, baby. When it comes to intellect, yeah, I'm a size queen."

When it comes to intellect, I'm a size queen.

Dirty, genius and true in less than ten words. I wish I'd thought of it.
