Dispatches from the City of Angels

I'm a writer and humorist living in and writing about Los Angeles. You can catch my novel LOSING CLEMENTINE out March 6 from William Morrow. In the meantime, feel free to poke around. Over at my website you can find even more blog entries than I could fit here, as well as a few other ramblings. Enjoy and come back often.

Because My Mother Doesn't Have Enough to Worry About

On my 31st birthday, I booked a tandem skydive. I thought everyone I knew would want to come with me. Turns out, no one I knew wanted to come with me. It seems there are folks who think throwing yourself out of a mechanically sound aircraft sounds like a bad idea. I couldn't think of a better way to kick off a new year. I was right.

Stats:

12,500 foot jump
60-second free fall
Pulled the parachute at 5,500 feet
Fully inflated at 5,000 feet
5-7 minute floating decent
