PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW AND TRUST IN PORTLAND AREA

I spent the day at one of two shelters moving in cots and trying to set
up a
recycling center, registering volunteers etc.

Red Cross still needs help building cots, moving in things, managing
communication and organization etc.

If you want to volunteer at the shelter I was at go to stark and 12th
SE in
Portland (the old Washington high school)
If you want to volunteer in general go to 1712 NE Sandy Blvd 97232

Tell them that Carla Nomaiia (a Red Cross volunteer) sent you and
Steven
Phanouvong, her husband works at Salvation Army...
(They just want to keep it on the down low so nutty people don't show
up to
volunteer)

It was empowering to do physical labor to help out, and a reality check
to
see all the cots lined up for 3 floors of a huge high school...
we are blessed...feeling grateful for my life, home, loved ones, food,
toilet paper, female sanitary products, recycling, fresh vegetables, my
cats, the list goes on...
Let's give back....

A great chance to be teaching our youth about service too!

PS. AGAIN, SORRY IF I SENT THIS TWICE...YOU MAY BE ON MORE THAN ONE
LIST, I
AM JUST TRYING TO GET THE WORD OUT...

PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU THINK CARES.

My husband Steven phanouvong (aka saifah) just got a call from his work
(Salvation Army)...
They are bringing 1,000 hurricane victims to Portland Oregon.
The logistics are still not super clear but there is a need for
volunteers
to help out in many ways.
This is a chance to do something active with our grief, shock and
devastation...this is a way to remember that life is precious, every
breath
is a gift, and the rest can be swept away at any time. Let's respect
and
nurture those in need.

To help out call (503) 238-GIVE

Another way to help financially is through TPRF organization.
I trust and respect this organization with all my heart having been a
student of Prem Rawat most my life. I have seen many lives nurtured
and
supported through his words of peace, and his humanitarian efforts.
They
have a hurricane victim fund building and will do great things with it
I am
sure;

The Prem Rawat Foundation to provide relief to victims of Hurricane
Katrina

TPRF, the organization through which Prem Rawat spearheads significant
humanitarian initiatives, responded promptly after Hurricane Katrina
hit the
United States' Gulf Coast. Within a few days the TPRF website made it
possible for people to contribute to this important initiative, and
TPRF
volunteers were assessing how to best use these contributions. For
Linda
Pascotto, President: "Our heart goes out to the victims of this
terrible
tragedy. While no amount of material aid can make up for the losses
that
many people have suffered, we can help bring some dignity to their
living
conditions. From the moment we opened up the TPRF site for donations to
help
Hurricane Katrina victims, contributions have been pouring in. This
indicates that, with each new humanitarian initiative we launch, a
growing
number of people, whether or not they are familiar with Prem Rawat's
message, express trust in the Foundation and in its ability to find the
best
possible ways for their donations to reach those in need. We are now
analyzing a number of possibilities in order to allow these generous
contributions to have a strong, healing impact in the field and to make
a
real difference. In the weeks ahead, we will provide updates on the
progress
of this initiative. In the meantime, your contributions, small and
large,
are much appreciated
