My younger daughter, who will be graduated from middle school next month, was informed today that she will be one of the class valedictorians. (The school also selects a male valedictorian, but I think my daughter had him beat.) This is in a high-performing school with an 8th grade class of about 350 students.

I'd like to say she takes after her Dad, but she's smarter than that. She probably won't be writing science fiction when she's my age.
