Last night, after the elections were over I stood in the middle of the street and watched an impromptu parade walk down the street. At almost midnight neighbors were out banging drums, waving signs, and cheering for the victory we all felt invested in.

We have done this together.

I wanted to join in the parade, but my dog needed to go to the bathroom and I needed to get a good nights sleep.

I was with them in spirit.

Congrats to Obama on his historic win. Congrats to the record number of voters that came out to excercise their right. Congrats to all the people who now have doors opened up to them that weren't opened before. Congrats to those whose dreams have the possibility of becoming a reality.

We may not be all the way there just yet, but this is certainly a good start.
