"Short people got no reason..."

The 30 year old song by Randy Newman, Short People (1977), talks about how these people have "no reason to live."

Funny, that, as the latest policy from the lips of Kevin Rudd offers incentives to get nurses out of their self-imposed retirement (read, wanting to work somewhere that they are appreciated) and back on the hospital wards. Of course, hospitals 'short' of nurses means a greater probability that people going un-nursed will have "no reason to live." That scores one for the Opposition, and a zero for the seeming further inaction (read, lack of 'traction') today by the Government.

Score:
Lib/Nat 1
Lab -1
