My countdown timer tells me it's 365 days until George W. Bush's successor is sworn into office.

A year! Just a year.

That's a digital number: 1.

What can the man do in a year?
- He can start (and perhaps stop) a war.
- He can fix an economy that he tried desperately to break with exorbitant spending on a foreign war.
- He can become able to use words other than single-syllable grunts.
- He can apologise for accepting mis-truths about a country and regime that he had not researched (okay, say he had researched Iraq; he’d not learned to pronounce the place’s name.)

Maybe I'm thinking that his successor will be better. What evidence do I have for that?
