Africa matters

Only after I sang in African Sanctus did I find this reference.

For now, there are still a few phrases of the pieces jabbering at each other in my brain, so I can't sleep.

The soprano soloist, Sonia Anfilloff, was great: a clear and powerful voice that rose above the choir singers.

Choirs don't just happen, and Judith Clingan rehearsed and led us so well.

Sometimes experiences creep up on you. This was also a day in which Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe has said he'd take his country into an internal war rather than hand over power if the up-coming election goes against him. And, he's also said that he'd be willing to hand over power, to stooges.

In the choir tonight we had two Zimbabwean women -- nurses -- driven out of Zimbabwe, in effect, by Mugabe's joke of government. In the audience was a woman whose brother is a white Zimbabwean farmer, in effect driven off his land by Mugabe's joke of governing by populist thought-bubbles.

Please keep yourself informed on the Zimbabwean 'situation'.
