Faded Indigo

Tue Aug 30 - Great news: Another coworker, Dana, figured out why my labs wouldn't work, and yesterday's crisis has been solved. So tomorrow I will finally get to pick up where I left off at the end of the day Thursday: getting screen shots for the rest of the labs in the book.

The morning was another multi-tasking laundry day, even before I headed off to work. Sadly the indigo-dyed silk lightened up way more than I was expecting, so I'll probably need to do at least one or more indigo vats to get the perfect blue I'm looking for. I'm not sure how much I'll have to do to be able to overdye the material, or if I'll have to wait and go over to someone else's house who already has all the tools and materials and we'll do it together.

Then I was supposed to go to the studio tonight, but when I got there I found out that rehearsal had been cancelled. The keyboardist is in the Virgin Islands, and somehow I never got the message. So I rang up Lilya, who was not only home but the whole household was just getting dinner ready. So I made the extra 15 minute drive north from the studio and they set me a place at the table. The four of us had a lovely visit, sitting around another exquisite meal prepared by Nathan (who really is one of the better cooks I know), then just chatting, telling stories, and looking at photos. I grabbed a latte in the coffee house drive-through on the corner and made the trip home safely. That's that!
