A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Little Successes, One After Another

Thu Nov 3 - I stayed at work last night until 10 pm, went home, and watched maybe 10 minutes about chocolate on Good Eats before I was about to pass out. Mmmm, chocolate. Oh, right.

I got up around 4 am without any trouble (what is with me lately?) but by the time I got near work at 5 am, I was having trouble being awake. So I parked the car to take a little nap, and didn't wake until 6:20 am. Hmm, apparently I needed more sleep after all, but at least I beat the traffic before falling back to sleep. Breakfast, coffee, and the rest of the drive later, and I was feeling just fine and dandy. I've finally finished the meticulous edit of this chapter and now I'm into damage control mode instead to have a "just good enough" version of the book by Monday's class, instead of a "done to my very very best" version. I think I need a full two weeks to completely finish editing the book to *my* best standards, but I don't have two weeks left. Oh well. *heavy sigh*

But I also got a bunch of other things done today that made me feel successful: (a) Got some more Mandarin Chinese research done, and now I have a 41-line cheat sheet next to me at work of the phrases I want memorized by the time we do our role-playing game next week. I even found the lyrics to the little kids' folk song (Mo Li Hua, Little Jasmine Flower) I learned in college, to re-memorize the two lines that I always forget. Yay me!

I also wrote my first attempt at a character description, and I'm quite proud of it. Aliskye wrote me off-list to tease me about being a *cough*ringer!*cough* and that maybe I've actually been gaming a lot before. I've explained that I've only gotten to do guest-appearances or cameo's in gaming campaigns, and that this is the first time I ever get to be a principal character in a game. I'm glad to see that people like what I'm drafting up so far, and Ben's taking my other outline ideas and "rolling" up the character for me.

(b) Black Rose Ball is a local "dress up and dance" SCA event to be held in a few Saturdays from now. I went to the regional/Kingdom website recently, to look up information about the event on the calendar and it wasn't listed in the calendar database. The woman who is in charge of the event was happy that I volunteered at the council meeting on Tuesday to put the event on the website for her. I'm a member of the kingdom website team, so I have admin access to the calendar database. This often comes in handy. So over my lunch hour I typed up the event notice, had the form crash on me and lose all my work, and then retyped it field-by-field, saving after every new field or every new paragraph. Now it's up, working, and I've sent her a note to have her proofread it to make sure I didn't miss anything.

(c) I got the stats report and the webwright report written for the Shire meeting tonight, and emailed to my deputy. I definitely won't be at the meeting, but I got the reporting done. *whew*

(d) And I got several more scrap papers floating around my desk logged into my day runner or wall calendar or both. I've been working really hard at trying to live out of my paper-planner AND my electronic planner, so every time I get a few more scraps logged and tossed out, I feel like dancing a little jig.

(e) I'm also finally getting better about reading and answering emails right away, or scheduling email tasks into my day (sometimes with alarms going off on my PDA to remind me not to put off finishing an email task). I'm feeling a little better about these things too, although I can see that I have a very LONG way to go to get everything in my schedule under control.

* * * * *
Of course, I also joke that I cannot die until all my things are neat and organized. I would be *mortified* to die leaving behind a mess for my friends and/or family. So if there's always still one more pile of clutter to clean up, it must not be my time to go yet, right? *wink*

Heaven help me if I really do get it all cleaned up one day! I'll have to find a new project to organize or clean if it really all does get done. *hee hee*
