A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Work, Home, & Sewing Photos

Fri Nov 4 - On the Work Front: 363 graphics done out of 731 graphics (368 still to be replaced). Oh. Good. God. I have no idea if I can stomach another exhausting week like this, replacing more graphics. And that level of review of my book takes longer than just taking new screen shots and importing them one by one, by reference. No, I end up being so detail-buried in the book that I find every little font, punctuation, and phrasing change as well as every work-flow revision and how do I chose what to keep and what to postpone?

I'm in "emergency decision mode" to get a book in the classroom by 8 am on Monday. I love every jot and tittle in chapters 1-4, and still am baffled by chapters 5-11. (By the way, is it "tittle" or "title"? I found both versions on google. *sigh*) But the book is down to 578 pages, and when I finally decide which appendices to strip out, it will be that much shorter yet again.

On the Sewing Front: Yes, I got the skirt done! Yippee! Right now, I'm just waiting for my co-worker Hope to get back from lunch, so I can photograph the finished skirt for my records. I'm happy with the final product, I'm just exhausted from staying up a little past 2 am to finish it. [Here it is folks: The photos of the skirt project: http://www.crescentwing.com/skirt/]

Because, on the Home Front: I had to finish laundry before I could start sewing. My bedroom is an absolute disaster now, with sewing scraps strewn everywhere, bits of costuming in piles, and stacks of boxes waiting to be sorted and finally put away again. But Saul phoned late afternoon yesterday to say "Let's do dinner tomorrow" and we ended up deciding on dinner at my place. So I've got that added incentive to get home at a decent hour and finally get my room picked up so I *can* have guests over again. It's been a while, and I miss having friends over.

I've also got to find a store somewhere that still sells VCR tapes so that I can dump shows from my TiVo for friends, and tapes are getting harder and harder to find. I always wish I could be an early-adopter for technology, but I'm clearly behind the curve. I don't own an MP3 player of any sort, and in fact I still have never converted a single CD of mine to MP3 files. My laptop is four years old, and still only has a 10 gig hard drive. I only got a DVD player just about 2 years ago when my step-dad got me one for Christmas. And although I finally bought an 80-hour Series 2 TiVo this summer, I still haven't hooked it up and swapped out my old second-hand 30-hour TiVo. My PDA is my 2nd second-hand piece of electronics, and heck I still have some cassette tapes in my music library stash.

So it's no surprise I'm probably one of the last people around, still trying to have blank VCR tapes in her supplies. And funny thing, Erika had to tell me that they don't even have a VCR left in their apartment. To watch these shows, Saul has to take the tape over to his parents' house. My oh my.

For the joys of being raised with high expectations and unconditional love. And for the on-going friendship we still have, year to year.
