A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Some Observations

Strange. I'm home without work, and I cannot seem to find time to write in my journal. Let's see if I can write a few summary updates and observations to entertain you on a Friday.

(1) If you're doing dyestuffs, be prepared that what you're wearing may end up in the dye pot. It's happened so often, I can hardly be surprised each time, but I'm always surprised and I laugh at myself every time. In this case, I have a huge sewing project that needed to be done in a week, and I hadn't gotten around to the green dyebath. So earlier this week, maybe Monday or Tuesday, I finally went straight to the kitchen to boil up the Rit Dye.

I had some lime green (practically neon) linen-look, some beige/tan linen, and some teal linen. I needed them all to be greens in a similar family of colors. With some dark green, kelly green, and deep golden yellow, I did the lime first, the beige on top of that, and then the teal (which was too blue, and needed to be warmer). I happened to be wearing a pastel green shirt at the time, and the two flecks of color that spilled on me really weren't that visible. But it prompted me to toss my shirt in on the top of the dyebath.

The shirt was really in the last of the exhaust of the dyebath, came out a really medium green, and with the most mottling (which I kinda like). The teal deepened to the rich dark green I was hoping for, the beige was a little bit mottled but nice, and the lime was a perfect brilliant green, a little on the dark side of the spectrum.

The linen is all for a quilted/applique technique for a linen short circle cloak, and I'll be certain to have photos later. It's turning out wonderfully, but yes I'll be up late tonight.

(2) Jobs are funny things. There have been some really dead days where I could hardly find anything worth applying for. And there were other days when I sent nearly 40 resumes in an afternoon. Some days my friends send me interesting, and funny, job links. One friend sent a job link to a Technical Writer position with Google, which finally got me to put together my "Cover Letter" too.

Today, I'm finally seeing "Job Nibbles," as I like to call them. One recruiter wants me to do a phone interview on Monday afternoon, possible for work-from-home clone job to the one before my last. (This excites me quite a bit.) Two job applications have garnered emails responses this afternoon to which I still need to reply.

Next week promises to be better than this week, already.

(3) Hot weather is sometimes a good thing, although very rarely. I was torn about going to an Equestrian event on Sunday, rather than an SCA informal brunch, but the horses cannot go out into the heat so that event has been cancelled. I no longer have a dilemma, and I look forward to a long weekend with friends.

Otherwise, the hot weather is miserable. The only good thing about being unemployed and living where I do, is that I haven't had to drive in the traffic and heat. But some days, I've been working on my computer all day, just sitting in front of a fan and drinking cold drinks, never remembering to go out. So some days have been a struggle to remember to get up and step out for a bit.

So that's about it. Job hunting continues. Crafts continue. Life continues. I hope all is continuing well for you, too.
