A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

More Pics, and then Some Thoughts about Signage

More Picture Goodness - At Saul and Amy's Halloween party, Bill brought me a CD with photos (and videos!) from my FOUR-tieth birthday celebration. So I spent my Sunday afternoon getting both my Birthday pictures and Saul's party pictures up into my photo site.

Of course, I'm *super* way embarassed to learn that originally Bill was planning to hold the photos hostage in exchange for a couple of shirts (that I promised to sew for him) and now I'm thinking I had better get to my sewing machine ASAP. *blush with serious embarassment and guilt* I only tell you all, because I need the embarassment to hold me honest and get me back to sewing.

And now for something completely different:

Thoughts about Elections - This is not your typical rant. I happen to be fairly "plugged in" to the mass of information out there. I listen to several different podcasts, recordings of radio shows that I download from the internet and listen to later on my iPod. I've heard about all I can stand to hear about all the sides, the candidates, and the local politics on my California ballot. I made up my mind on several issues/people a long time ago, and a few I've made up my mind recently after finally getting a sense of the arguements.

What I *don't* understand is the furor over yard signs and bumper stickers. It's not that I don't use bumper stickers: My car actually has SEVERAL, some of which are not typical. I've never put a campaign sticker on my car, although once I made a printout in support of a proposition and put it in the window of my home, although I was nervous about it at the time.

What's ridiculous right now are the yard sign thefts. One yard in my neighborhood is also keeping track of how many signs have been stolen. Although I strongly disagree with their side of the issue, I wouldn't steal their sign. As of yesterday, they had three signs up, one was crumpled, one they'd lashed to the top of a tree, and a sign that said "Number of signs stolen: 21." I've heard this has been going on all over the country and all over the state, for different signs.

Okay, seriously: No one's opinion is changed by a sign in a yard. Right? I'm not off base here, am I? If you feel strongly enough to put a sign up in your yard or on your car or in your windows, fine. You have free speech in this country, which many people have fought and died for you to have that right. But I have every right to roll my eyes at you, and think you're a goober. Or I can put up a sign of opposition.

But stealing signs? Really? *sigh*

And I hate feeling like putting up a sign means I risk vandalism. My car was broken into once, where the passenger window was smashed and there was paint splashed on the door. The police actually suggested that one or two of my bumper stickers might have been the problem, although later we figured it was because a half-empty purse (with nothing of value) was on the front seat. I hated the fear I felt that bumper stickers could incite someone to violence.

Finished Objects: Two photo albums, several errands, some car cleaning, some room cleaning.

Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: Living in this country
