A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Things I Love

Things I Love - There's a great line in Dr. Horrible's Sing-along-Blog when Neil Patrick Harris is trying to flee from the laudromat before Nathan Fillion shows up. Felicia Day asks him about his clothing in the washer (it is a laundromat, after all) and he exclaims, "These? I don't love these!"

Moving can make you re-evaluate what *THINGS* are really needed or wanted in our lives. One of my new roomies would love to be a monk: Own 2 sets of clothing and a place to curl up to sleep at night. That's it. Okay, he's really a cave-bear, but that's a different tale. Another roomie comes from family with hoarding habits, and has been learning to break the cycle with each new generation. Throwing all of us into one home, we all want to support each other for reducing our belongings to manageable levels.

"I don't love these." I repeat that line when I purposefully move my belongings from clutter to recycling, to donation, or to just plain trash. It's a great mantra, and it really cheers me up when I part with my own hoarding tendencies.

But what *do* I love? I think that will be a major pursuit for the year. What do I want to spend my time on? What things really actually *DO* thrill me, make me happy, give me joy?

I love color. I love seeing my post-it notes at work displayed in ROYGBIV order. I love having a set of highlighter pens in "every color." I love to sort my closet by ROYGBIV. (Dayle and Ken will remember when I sorted my clothing in a separate rainbow order from my hangers!) It's not that I have to be obsessive about it. I =can= function without color-sorting. But I *love* color, and I gain daily joy and cheer from color. So I embrace color. And you should see my calendars with the wild color there!

I love spinning. I absolutely adore making yarn. So I am making a concerted effort to put spinning into my weekly life again. Moving made it difficult to spin on a regular basis. But since I want to justify keeping my crafts supplies, I better darn well be using them.

Next I have to wonder what I'm doing with all that yarn. I have looms, knitting needles, crochet hooks, and embroidery needles. So I really want to *USE* all my yarn. Somehow, I think I will lean towards crazy quilting and other wild abandon effects with my weaving, embroidery, knitting, and/or crochet. I imagine I might have either some great gifts or an ecclectic etsy shop (or both) after a while.

I love reading. I love books. As I reduce the clutter in my life, this love can be a stumbling block. I've amassed quite a sizeable library. However, I can look at my books now and ask, Do I *LOVE* this book? My donation pile grows as I continue to re-evaluate.

What do you love?

Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: I am exceedingly thankful for color, music, and crafty talents.
