Long Lives Well Lived

Some Asians seem to have discovered the fountain of youth. So what does it take to reach 100?

Essentially:

1. A low-calorie diet mainly of vegetables, Omega-3, free radical killers like lycopenes and isoflavones, etc.
2. Genetics
3. Interests and hobbies
4. Family support
5. Having children later in life
6. A healthy lifestyle
7. Stress management

And here is a supporting article on what you can do to live long and well.

What about me? What am I doing to maximise my lifespan?

1. I am vegetarian (sparingly lacto-ovo - I don't drink milk or buy non-vegetarian cheese - and once a week, pesco, if I haven't taken enough flax seed for Omega-3, but only eat cold water fish and raw).

2. I practice caloric restriction.

3. Okay, I try to exercise, mainly through pilates, and shopping excursions.

4. I slather on SPF130 when I go out in the sun.

5. I drink 12 glasses of water a day, inclusive of 1 glass of soya milk a day, and least 3 cups of green tea (from the same tea bag).

6. I practice stress management and do things that make myself happy.

7. I spent lots of quality time with my family.

8. I spend time on my causes but do not despair when I perceive they do not working.

9. I invest in love: 1 amazing husband, 3 wonderful beautiful cats, dad and mom, brother, sister-in-law, gorgeous and precocious niece Kaitlyn (named for my mother and I) nicknamed 'The Boot', 'Bootie', 'Bootu', and 'Gigi', and my extended families of sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

10. I live with 3 cats who boundlessly enrich my life every minute every day I am with them.
