"The House of Fortune"

This writing is esoteric. That is the only word I can use to describe what the author is trying to say.

His heart left him for the 'House of Fortune' and when he (the heart) reached it, he found not power, money and authority or Contentment. So he asked the daughter of Love where is Contentment? The answer was that Contentment had "gone to preach her gospel in the city where greed and corruption are paramount; we are not in need of her."

The author explains that Fortune craves not Contentment for it is and earthly hope, and Contentment is heartfelt. The eternal soul is never contented since is ever seeks exaltation.

...Then the heart walked toward Knowledge, the daughter of Love and Beauty and asked for wisdom to share with the people. And was told, "Say not wisdom, but rather fortune, for real fortune comes not from outside, but begins in the Holy of Holies of life. Share of thyself with the people."

I paraphrased quite a bit. Direct quotes are in quote marks. What is he realy trying to say? Some of this writing is clear to interpret. But to me, this essay seems to be a joining of two separate essays. First the author is talking about seeking contentment. We all seek that feeling of peace where all is well. Where nothing has to be improved or changed. Then he talks about the soul seeking exaltation and is never contented, and I don't know if I agree with that statement.

I do agree that real fortune comes from within and from sharing with others. (co-dependent anyone?)

This is not my favorite reading so far. A little too obscure for my tastes, but it did make my brain cells work this morning. That is always a good thing.
