Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Normalizing

Today started out badly but has gradually gotten better. Not great, but definitely better. I didn’t sleep well due to heartburn (curse that yummy Indian food! Actually, to be specific, it was probably the midnight snack of Indian food on top of a couple of glasses of wine). I was expecting Ken to call, and he didn’t, so I got up twice to check e-mail before he finally did call. So I didn’t get much sleep.

Ken suggested other ways to fix Eisteddfod, all of which Matt either had tried or then did try; all failed. Poor Matt got up at 8 a.m. to work on it, because he couldn’t sleep either. Finally we all admitted defeat. I drove up to Meg and Matt’s and picked up the drive; I’ll take it to the disk recovery place with the first drive.

I’ve typed in most of the GP, and even designed most of the cover, having successfully installed Pagemaker on OS 9. I had a moment of pure panic when I realised I didn’t have the subscription list, but then remembered that I’d printed it out to take to the last meeting. Whuf of relief. I’ve been typing that in as well.

Now it’s evening, and I’m freshly showered and sweet-smelling. I’ve talked to Ken again briefly, and now I’m settling back into the GP work. So far, so good. I also have to install Palm software (two different ones), a printer driver, and a bit more software, but it’s all do-able.

Tomorrow, I’ll take the drives in, finish the GP so Cat can proof it in the evening, make some phone calls, and try to get back into the groove of life as best I can.

Cat and I curled up in the living room, each of us with a cat, and watched tonight’s “Charmed”. Ze plot sickens! It was good to relax a bit. I think I’ll sleep well tonight—and on that note, I’m headed off to the bedroom to put the plan in motion.
