Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Author Appearance

Words Written: AETW chapters 9 and 10 edited; one story mailed

I am thrilled (let’s be honest: I am giddy-goofy!) to report that my first ever professional author appearance will be at Shore Leave in Baltimore in July. Strange New Worlds 8 authors will be reading and signing.

Come one, come all, if you can make it!

(I know we’ll see Beth & Steve, and Donna L., since they all live in the area. Not yet sure if we’ll take the time and ride out, or fly and rent a car, and/or how many folks up and down the East Coast we’ll try to see. I owe my parents and aunt a visit, that’s for sure.)

Also, I’ve also had my very first professional author interview! (Well, I haven’t answered the questions yet, but I will in the next day or so.) A gentleman is writing a Star Trek fiction companion for Pocket Books, and is interviewing ST authors about their inspiration, fandom, etc.

How cool is all that?!

Even though I haven’t gotten official confirmation, I’ve got it on good authority that I’ve sold my second BattleCorps story. Go me!

Also garnered a rejection today, but the story has already been fired back out.

And in other writing news, managed to work through a couple more chapters. Four more to go. I discovered that I’d actually started the scene I tried to start last week, and did a better job the first time. Which is good, because when I get up to that point, I can forge ahead easily.

Sorry for the boring entry. If I’d written one yesterday, it would have been worse, because I spent the day feeling as though someone had absconded with my brain. (Perhaps Phaedra was glomming on to my half?) I’m better today. In a better mood than last week, too. Whowouldathunk that this writing thing makes me happy? Sheez.
