Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Eat your pudding

Words Written: brainstorming, and a scene written in my head that will get typed as soon as this stupid headache goes away

Back from Phoenix, safe and sound. The concert/show (the Alice Cooper Christmas Pudding benefit show) was fantastic—hours and hours of music and comedy, raising tons of money for charity. The biggest downside was being sick; I was hot and stuffy and sleepy, and with earplugs in, I felt like I was in a semi-sensory deprivation chamber—which is just a wrong experience for a concert. It got better when we moved from our 13th-row seats down to 5th-row seats behind Helen and her beau Dave, which had been empty for the first half of the concert. The pit chairs were farther apart, at least.

I’ll write up about the whole experience when I can—the older, extremely drunk woman who tried to pick up Ken—in front of her date—is truly a tale to be related. But not now. I’m tired and still sick and I have to catch up on work and life. Trust me, though, it was hilarious.

This has been a backwards cold, starting in my chest and now having moved up to take residence in my head with a vengeance. Other than an inability to breathe, a wicked headache due to nasal spray (in an attempt to breathe), and frequent bouts of tiredness, I’m doing okay. I’ve just got to wait it out.

Oh booger. Now Ken has the lurgy, too. We cancelled our dinner plans (Morgana and Brian were coming over for lemon chicken and a movie) and collapsed on the sofa (I had a headache most of the day, thanks to the cold having moved into my head and taken up residence with its 75 relatives in my sinuses) and watched Lilo and Stitch, a truly weird movie. We joined Netflix recently. I’m happy so far! Next in the queue: the Tomb Raider movies, which seem like good things to watch whilst lurgified.
