Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

What's this on my ear?

Words Written: Chloe 1058; “Rhythm Like a Heartbeat” edits
Exercise: 2 sets of ½ hour walking

Soooo tired. Didn’t get nearly enough sleep last night. And today was just go-go-go, which made it all worse.

Which is not to say I had a bad day, just a full one.

I had a chiropractic appt in the morning, and it was soooo good. I felt lighter walking out of the office. A little later I hopped in the car, put on an RWA session, and headed up to Santa Barbara for a work meeting. The half hour meeting took 15 minutes, and the president loves me so much she hugged me goodbye. Oh, and I should be getting a Windows laptop so I don’t have to fight with the interface on top of the Macs.

I went for a walk with Elise, and it was great to catch up with her. Must figure out a way to haul her down our way. I stopped and talked with a bunch of people, and everyone was so happy to see me. I was a little surprised—I guess I feel like I wasn’t there long enough to make the connections. Everyone said I looked good and less stressed (well, yes), everyone asked about the book and my writing overall, and Kirk said I’d lost weight (well, yes—I dropped a good five pounds the first week or so after I left). Note to self: Next time I should let everyone know I’m coming up so we can do lunch.

Came home, and had just about enough time to straighten and clean the living room and dining room and media room with Ken, and start dinner. Morgana and Brian came over for our frequent but irregular dinner-and-a-movie nights. I made pasta with lemon artichoke pesto, fresh grilled asparagus chunks, and grilled chicken bits. Yum. Because it was Burns’ Night, Morgana requested something Scottish—to wit, Local Hero. Oh, like twist my arm. I think I’m safe in saying this is my favorite movie; there are others I love dearly, but I do watch this one at least once a year. It’s layered, and subtle, and funny, and bittersweet, and every time I watch it, I catch one more detail, one more nuance. It’s intelligent without being difficult. It’s just…perfect. Anyway. Morgana had seen it before, but Brian hadn’t, and Ken hadn’t watched it in awhile (although he caught the end of it a few months ago when I’d cozied up to get my yearly fix), so we all had a lovely time.

I feel the need for all of us to watch Neverwhere next. And if you understand the connection, please tell me. Because right now, I feel like the only person on earth who does (except for one other person).

After they left, I wrote, and then Ken and I watched more TV, and now we’re off to bed.

I got tagged (like a hibernating bear who wakes up to find a big orange tag stuck to her ear) for a Me!Me! that’s been going around. Five weird things about me. For the life of me, I can’t think of any. A bit unusual or eccentric, maybe, but nothing unique. Everything I come up with is something I’m pretty sure other people do, even if there aren’t a lot of them. Or things that sound weird until you think about them for more than a millisecond.

Anybody out there want to take a stab at suggesting things? Do I have any weird habits? Do I have five of them?!
