Philadelphia Eagles receiver Terrell Owens had surgery on his broken ankle about 6 weeks ago. Doctors have not cleared him to play in the Super Bowl. However...

"I respect Dr. Myerson and his decision to not medically clear me," Owens said. "But prior to going down to see him for that last visit, I can honestly say God had already cleared me. It really doesn't matter what a doctor says. I've got the best doctor of all, and that's God."

Hmm...the best doctor of all, huh? Why even go to all those other doctors in the first place? Why have surgery? I mean, god designed all those bones and ligaments, right? He should be able to patch you up better than some sawbones with a scalpel, right?

I thought this story from a New Jersey paper was pretty funny, though:

Owens was not sure how much he'll play.

"I'm going to be in the game plan and it's going to be a game-time decision," Owens said. "I'm probably going to go with the flow of the game. If there is a situation where they need me and I feel like I can go -- which I know I will -- then they're going to put me in there."

God was not available for comment.

Heh.
