We're here at the GECCO 2005 conference. So far I'm underwhelmed. The hotel is expensive, and that might be okay if they had free friggin internet access. But alas, no.

I'm speaking to you from Murky Coffee in the Eastern Market district, 3 subway stops away from the hotel. They can give me wireless internet access for a $1.50 cup of coffee. For $145 a night, my hotel can't. Thanks a-holes.

As far as the content, it's a lot like last year, at least the workshops and tutorials this weekend. The paper sessions start tomorrow, so it should be more interesting to see what work people have been doing for the past year. Our presentation is on Wednesday, so we'll pretty much have to hop on the plane right after we finish.

Oh yeah, the food selection blows down here. You pretty much have to take the subway or walk 10 blocks to find a restaurant near the hotel. The hotel serves breakfast, but it's like $17. No thanks. A-holes.

Anyway, more later if I manage to drag my ass down to Murky Coffee again.
