Blogging will probably be light over the next few days. I've come down with a nasty bug and probably won't feel much like blathering about this or that.

In the meantime, they've just posted the videos from Beyond Belief: Enlightenment 2.0, a conference of a bunch of intellectuals talking about whether or not we need a new Enlightenment, and if so, what it should be like. There's something like 20 hours of video over there, so that should keep my bed-ridden ass busy. I've already watched a bit of it, and there do seem to be two camps at the conference, relating to some of the stuff I've talked about here: the descriptive camp, who want to study religion, actually believe it has utility and adaptive worth beyond its truth value, and the prescriptivists, who think religion generally does more harm than good, but think that even if it did tend to do more good it should be shed off like so much dead skin and left in the dust.

Okay, that's enough for now...I'm off to hack, cough, and drift in and out of restless sleep.
