Eric Mayer Byzantine Blog Probably the only vaguely interesting thing about me is that with my wife, Mary Reed, I co-author the John the Eunuch mystery series set in sixth century Constantinople. But that doesn't stop me from dwelling here on the boring minutiae of the rest of my life, present and past, along with the occasional word about writing. |

2004-01-23 7:57 PM An Award Nomination Mary and I have learned that FOUR FOR A BOY has been nominated for the Bruce Alexander History Mystery Award! Established by Left Coast Crime 14 to honor the memory of author Bruce Alexander (Bruce Cook), the award is for the best Historical Mystery (global location, i.e. set anywhere and in any time period up to the end of World War II) written in 2003.
Check out the list of nominees. I've just never been an award magnet so I'm truly surprised. I was surprised and thrilled when I got a couple nominations for the Inside Adrift Awards for my interactive fiction. In theory, I don't consider any sort of art to be a contest, but it sure is nice to get recognition. I suppose there is a contradiction there. We won't be able to cross the country to attend the convention, and we certainly don't expect to win, but that's just as well since I'm speechless.
