Eric Mayer Byzantine Blog Probably the only vaguely interesting thing about me is that with my wife, Mary Reed, I co-author the John the Eunuch mystery series set in sixth century Constantinople. But that doesn't stop me from dwelling here on the boring minutiae of the rest of my life, present and past, along with the occasional word about writing. |

2005-01-03 9:23 PM InsideAdrift Awards The year's off to a good start. My interactive fiction game Wax Worx finished tied for second in the InsideAdrift Game of the Year Awards. Woo Hoo!! (Paint!! by David Whyld, a hilarious and rather addictive game came deservedly first)
Let's not get too excited. That's out of six games. Still...I hardly ever place or show (never mind win). Mary and I have garnered some awards/nomination for our co-writing but the last time I, myself and me finished as high as second for anything was the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers' Association Golden Quill for best column in a local weekly with a circulation less than 10,000 (or something like that) a mere...uh...hmmmm....hardly seems like 32 years. No, I lie! I once finished second for writing in a poll in a science fiction fanzine. Unfortunately the poll was one I ran in my own fanzine which had nothing in it but my own writing. Well, at least I proved I'm honest, since I could've rigged the results. If you can get past my running the poll to begin with, of course. Not that I was hoping to win or anything, just because no one but my own readers would be voting, who had all received the magazine for free for so many years. Not that I even remember such a trifling incident. Interactive fiction, by the way, is worth looking into. I have just a short page about it on my site because there are many excellent introductions, some of which are listed there. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
