2006-01-01 1:46 PM A Good Start At midnight I was working on a short story.
I paused, listening for the sound of celebratory gunfire which inevitably welcomes the New Year to the wilds of northeastern Pennsylvania. Outside the window by my desk there was only darkness and silence. Was the clock on my computer wrong? I waited for a few minutes. There was no gunfire this year.
