Reading: _Off the Mangrove Coast_, by Louis L'Amour, a short story collection. Good stuff, and not westerns.
Weather: overcast; very nice.
The ferret is: screwing around under the kitchen sink, or was, til I caught her. Now she's licking my ankle. Tickles.

Yesterday morning Gregg and I got married. We used a historic house near our home and a historic judge, then we went out to lunch at a historic lodge that used to be a masonic lodge, then Gregg and I spent the night there.

It was the happiest day of my life, and today was not too shabby either. Gregg is my own true love. His love and his happiness at having me in his life makes my own joy feel so much bigger.

We kept it the wedding simple. The judge and Gregg went over beforehand what he'd say and have us say, and Gregg had him leave out some stuff, things extraneous to us, like prayers (Why have a judge instead of a preacher if he's gonna pray?) and a bit about "if this union should be blessed with children." We each have already been blessed with just the right children and we are not going to start any from scratch in our superannuated state.

As far as what he had us say, I did fine on the "I do" part, but had trouble with the "With this ring I thee wed and pledge my something-or-other" part because I wasn't familiar with it, and couldn't hear what he said for Gregg to repeat, nor did I hear what Gregg said when he repeated it -- well, I did, but I was too busy looking into his eyes and... And, well. So I tried to listen and repeat what I was supposed to say, and at that instant I realized that I wasn't wearing my hearing aids. But Gregg coached me with big smiles and it turned out fine.

Gregg told me later he wondered why I didn't wear my hearing aids and was sure I'd done it on purpose and I asked how he knew and he said he saw it when he hugged me. So I wondered whether they look that noticeable? But he said that he always checks when he hugs me to see how loud he should talk. Good strategy.

I didn't cry, but I almost did. When I picked up my beautiful bouquet and halo (the florist had told me she didn't have time to make a halo, but then she did it anyway) I almost cried. When I put my flowers in the car I put my purse on the ground beside the car since I had not enough hands for everything, then started to drive away from my purse. My kids called, stuck in traffic, and that made me a little nervouser (Yes, that's a word, I feel certain.) I felt like I was going to cry when we werwe saying our vows, but I didn't cry then, either. Friday night I got some flowers at Safeway and arranged them in a casual style (if I do flowers, they must be casual) and we had those in the house.

Gregg took a lot of pictures, and other people took pictures. Gregg's busy lining them all up and doing a bit of cropping now. He took a lot of me throwing flowers. I didn't want to throw my actual bouquet as it was heavy, so I took one of the arrangements I made and threw flowers out from it. Lots of flowers, lots of pictures. It's kind of hard to capture flowers in the air and people catching them. Especially when the thrower is doing it over her shoulder and can't aim worth spit. Gregg has a timer on the camera, so some of the pics that he's in he took with that, and others one or another of the kids took.

I'll add a link to the pics when they are up. It won't be very long as Gregg's good at this photography stuff and not slow, either.
