The ferret is: FOUND!!!
Started knocking on doors tonight. Second one I came to had seen her last night, outside getting acquainted with his kitten, Putter. He didn't know what she was or whether she bit, so he didn't try to catch her. Likewise the guy next to him saw her, too, in the parking lot.
I tried a few more places, then went across the other parking lot and tried a couple of doors there and the second one the man there said, "Yup, we've got her." And they looked all over the apartment to find where she was sleeping and brought her out to me, and she's just fine!
Here and I was crying and thought I'd never see her again.
