This week I joined an online chat on ezboard.com where the forum theme was mental health. Never having "chatted" before I didn't know what to expect. Because I help people professionally, and announced it to the group by putting my website address on my posts, I was met with responses ranging from a warm welcome to angry skepticism. After several days of communicating back and forth, I began to understand the protective nature of the board members. These folks genuinely care for one another. And I think that they've created an excellent community, both for airing concerns and for getting feedback and support. I was honored to join these highly evolved souls in some lively debate. And I was touched by the concern and caring I felt from some of the stronger members for some of the more hurting ones who were grappling with some pretty tricky personal issues. Speaking of skeptical, I guess I was a little skeptical of how beneficial these forums could be. After having experienced the folks of the Close Encounters forum on ezboard.com I am now a believer. In a world that alienates us practically from birth, it is refreshing to find groups of people reaching out to one another. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
